Tonight i ran almost 5 miles along the east river... sometimes fast and sometimes not so fast. the whole thing took just under 50 min so either i was flying or i overestimated. both are fine.
legs felt heavy but pretty good. but jeez, how did say 5 miles feel so damned hard? is this normal?
my next real race (besides the dash and splash renamed park to park race) is the Manhattan half. that's on august 16th... soooo if i do an 11 about 2 weekends before that will be ok. so working back lets say 11, then 10, then 8 in terms of longer runs necessary (obv will do more)... if that's the case i can start longer runs july 4th and be OK. Until then nothing more than 6 miles and a lot of speedwork. Technically I didn't want to start 'training' until June 16th but I'm realizing more and more that I need to keep up 3 days running... so here we go again. It's not like I took massive amounts of time off either. The Sat after the marathon I did go for a 20 min run and I did work out 3 days last week (of which 2 were short 2 mile runs). Right now its only 16 days since the marathon, am I pushing myself too hard? I think the rest of the week i will run 3 miles Thursday and 4 Saturday. That's a solid week right?
