1st long run back

16.15 today. I was very proud of myself given the chest infection and sheer inactivity over the last 2 weeks. I havent run really since the Bronx and that was ages ago.

I dont know if these links work but see the map of my course here! It was a lot and took a while but it was worth it. I'm glad I have a 16-miler under my belt. It's my first of the season, and yes, I do realize I'm behind the curve!

I went and got TKTS tickets for tomorrows mom appearance. Should be fun. Everyone was staring at my compression socks I felt like. Oh well. I dont really care if theyre weird. They work.

Overall a good run. My hands swelled a bit which his my body's latest phenomenon. I did take a salt pack, took 2 goos, drank 2 gatorades, ate a salted pretzel at tkts. I really don't know what else I can do at this point. it's just plain strange.

Ever run downtown by City Hall? it's all weird down there. I came off the Manhattan bridge and ran down Pearl or the like. You honest to God don't feel like you're in NYC. It never ceases to amaze me how different all the areas of NYC can be. I think over the Brooklyn Bridge and back on the Manhattan is some of my favorite shade. I also like the west side highway especially by Battery Park. It's so calming down there. My least favorite at the moment has to be the East side. It's WAY uneven and they really need to repave. Come on city!!!

It's like 70 days and counting. SCARY.

busy like a bee

I've been traveling for work and still getting over being sick.

I did work out Thursday but really it was more like a quick run to test the lungs (literally1.5m) (lungs were fine, thank you very much) and then some squats, pushups, lunges, abs etc.

Tonight I intend to head to the gym and work out my arms, abs and back. Tomorrow I have 15m on the docket. 17 next Friday before Labor Day. Trying to get back in the swing of things, but really not feeling it.

On another note, my TNT Coach claims that my swollen hands at the Bronx half was really DEHYDRATION and a phenomenon (not really) called hyponatremia (but only slightly).

Read about it here (although it sounds so serious) CLICK ME!

7 things

I read a blog called Jaime Runs and was told I was tagged. I normally don't do these sorts of things but since I'm still under the weather (Mucinexed up- should I even run???) I figured, why the hell not. I've been so good about blogging lately so I figured they'd be 7 running related facts.

1. I started running in March 08. The first 10-K I ran was with my brother in Central Park and it was the Scotland Race. I took a nap after that 10-K.

2. I eat GU and shotblocks when I'm not running. Funny enough they don't upset my stomach then.

3. I don't get nervous on race day.I run through all the pre run/race prep in my head about 10 times before I actually do it. I think that's why I am not nervous.

4. I avoid Harlem Hill like the plague. Really, I avoid all hills, or should I say historically, I've avoided all hills- I'm really trying to love them.

5. I secretly hate running. I really do. I want to run where I am really proud, and then I swear I'll stop. Problem is, the proud piece keeps changing!

6. I eat pizza before every single long run (over 10m) and every single race (even 4 milers)
7. my super secret running goal is to be able to confidently run without anything but a sports bra and shorts.

I’m supposed to tag others but I am new to blogging so if you're reading this, consider yourself tagged.
