a great long run.

great wkd. friday i was a bit sick- sore throat. matt is really sick, on antibiotics etc.
sat i woke up at 545 and ran and ran and ran.. 2:54min and 15.55 miles. great job me. i felt awesome after. was perfect weather. i did the long training run in central park but since i was up early decided to run up to 102nd street. i didnt realize it was almost 5 miles and since i run much slower at the beginning of a run, i didnt get there until 7:23... but lo and behold the 11 min pace group was just lining up so i joined them. I was really proud of myself. I ran Harlem Hill and the rolling west side hills without getting out of breath and at an 1115-1130 overall pace. More importantly I felt really strong. Like just calm and collected.

The route was: 23rd and park up to 102 and central park. One counterclockwise loop up to 102 and then back down to 23rd street from the 102 transverse. I had just plain Total cereal for bfast and then a mango Gu before leaving. Then I had 4 shot blocks (margarita of course) at 90th street on the West side (1:00 in) and then gatorage at 2 hours and then 3 more shot blocks at like 2:45 just for kicks. Then I had a huge thing of water before going to breakfast. At breakfast I had a real latte, and a tartine with ricotta and figs. At lunch I had bread w butter and some sushi oh and a glass of wine. For snack I had a peach and a oreo pack and then dinner was more wine, an appetizer of apricots and arugula w olive oil and vinegar and sea brim with vegetables. dessert was Grom which was awesome. Not too bad for a busy day of running!

This wkd as a whole my mom and i did a lot of resting, eating, etc sat and sunday. Sun we went to yoga and i got a massage later on in the day. eating was fine. fri was a heavy carb day and i didnt log. i didnt log all wkd though... which is fine bc i did make good choices (fish and veggies for dinner vs homemade pasta) so im happy with that. my workout on sat burned about 1900 calories so imagine. I have some wiggle room!!!

tonight: 4 miles at 11 min pace, arms, abs
tomorrow: sprints. 8x 150meters, 6x 200meters
wed: off! YES! yoga!!
thurs: tempo run or more sprints (gross)
fri: 4 mile recovery run
sat: off! YES!
sunday: 10 mile run (well thats what im pushing for, i dont want to run more w a half marathon coming up next wkd!!)

I'm nervous for the half. I really want to do well. i think I've solidified what I eat the night before though, so that's a positive.

Can it be true??

Am I (GASP!) getting faster?

Yesterdays workout was excellent!!!
2 mile warmup
VO2Max workout which meant 1000m sprints in 5 min.

First lap: 4:50 was tough
Second lap: 5:03 more where I should be
Third lap: 5:!5- had a stitch so majorly slowed down.

Overall I was happy with the workout. Thats fast for me!

not so bad

So the last 4 days weren't so bad. Thurs I managed to finish my 1000s with a bit of decency. I was pretty proud to be running at a 8:34 pace. I needed to be at 8:15-8:20 but its OK i tried!!!

Friday and Saturday were off days.

Sunday I went for a 10-12 miler in East Hampton. Ended up with quite a few hills but a 11.65 m course in 2 hrs and 8 minutes with just a few walk breaks.

Not too shabby.

Welcome to Miami

Was a busy Sat-Thurs. In fact, I can't quite believe that it's almost weekened again. Trust me I'm thankful for it, but wow how time is flying. I can't quite conceptualize that its almost August!!

Sat and Sunday I did 4 mile runs both days, 41 and 42 about and then Monday was a day off. I flew back from Miami and its 98 degree weather on Monday am so I was a bit of a mess. Thankfully it was early to bed and late to rise.

Tuesday I had a scheduled tempo run. 1 mile warmup at 12min pace and then 27 min at 9:05/8:57 pace. I don't like 9:05 pace. Something about it. I prefer the 9:!3 or 8:57 much more. Its interesting. I stopped a few times to stretch but also did a 0.6 m 'cooldown' at 1030. Funny how 1030 used to be amazingly fast. Oh how perspectives change.

Wednesday I thoguht I had a 5 mile recovery run on tap. Luckily I did an easy 4 miles at a 1145/1130 pace. When I looked at the schedule I was supposed to do 3.5 so I wasnt far off at least.

Tonight is going to suck. I know life is about attitude, but bear with me here. 5-6 repeats of 0.625m (1000meters) w 2 min recovery in between at an 8:20-30 pace. Gross. THen I'm going to do yoga. Might as well exhaust myself. I did pack for the Hamptons so I should be OK.

Friday is an off day :) Sat is an off day :) Sunday is 10-12 miles. Gross.

Failure?

I didnt run last night. Quite honestly I was dehydrated, too tired and just sore.

I felt SO guilty getting a mani and pedi instead of running. We went to bed relatively early which was nice, for a change!!! Matt's mom in town and dinners at 830 every night it exhausting to me. I'm glad we got to spend time with her, but I'm sad I missed his Dad.

What else, no workut today, I'll try and walk up the stairs a bunch! That's all I've got.

SO excited for Miami, soooo excited.

Tues and Wed runs

well Tuesday was a mess. I had a terrible day at work: TERRIBLE and then I went to run my speed work at the gym. I totally miscalculated the speed that I needed to run my 600m's at and did 2:40 instead of 3... BIG difference. Long story short I hurt my shin and couldnt do the 6 reps... i did 4 and the last was in BIG pain.

Wednesday I did a 7.2 mile run in 78 minutes. Not too fast, but a decent pace. I need to pick it up a bit.

Tonight is supposed to be a 5 mile recovery run. When does this all fit? If I was fast it would fit better thats for sure.

Tomorrow I leave for Miami for the weekend- really looking fwd to girl time. On the agenda: 2 5 mile runs!!

Wkd Recap

Well I followed Urban's running plan to a tee last week.

Thursday we did tempo run... so 550m at a 3:03-3:10 pace... I made it 5 laps before my knee was on fire. I rested about 5 min and then ran 2 more. This was after a 1.5 mile warmup and almost 2 mile cool down. My knee felt fire-ish (perhaps from its exercises on Wed) but otherwise OK. I got a massage late Thursday night so I think that helped my sore muscles relax and recover a bit.

Friday was my recovery run. I was nervous. I never have ru back to back, at least not well. We left work early on Friday and Matt came with me! What a treat! We ran at a pretty slow pace (perfect for recovery) and since I ran 0.5 before meeting up with him, together we ran a 4 mile run! I was so psyched and so psyched for him too!! We only walked for about 30 seconds at the 35 min mark! We did the East River from Alpha City bridge (10th street and C) down to Wall Street and B'way and then walked home. Was magnificent weather and company and I was a giggly girl over it. Was perfection. We went to L'Ecole for dinner, which was also giggly great. Overall such a great way to end a not so great day!

Saturday was my off day. Spent it with my mom and at Ikea w Matt. Was on my feet all freaking day!!!

Sunday I was supposed to run 6-8 miles depending on how I felt. I was exhausted from the week/day so I slept in until 11 am and finally went for my run then. Ran the East River for the shade aspect, and ran to Wall Street and back up-- about 8.2 miles in 88:30 which was awesome for me. I felt great but drank a ton of water and gatorade (sidenote: no headaches since I've started this massive gatorade influx so perhaps they were dehydration headaches). While I was running up the East River on my second leg I passed a family of 5 or 6 and the mom said "get out of the JOGGERs way kids" For whatever reason this really pissed me off. What made ME a jogger? My pace? How judgemental! My sex? I mean are the guys she passed who were running, joggers in her mind? How am I who is easily (debateable) running 20+ mile weeks a jogger? Is a marathon a jogger? Is it silly to be offended?
