im in miami bitccccch

ran 6 miles at the gym today the weather was perfectly awful outside. of course tonight is the night im celebrating my birthday. oh well, right. i ran 6 miles in 62 minutes. very proud of that. felt pretty good even though im mildly hungover from my long haul flight self medication.

felt really strong today at the gym which was a nice change from the crap that were my runs in the big city of london this past weekend.

tomorrow i hope to run a few recovery miles. i've been really trying to up my alcohol consumption so that 1 or 2 drinks doesnt knock me on my ass the next day.

i havent listened to my ipod in a bit so im seriously jamming while i write this. just thought you all should know ;)

happy saturday!!!

35 miles to my 750 mile marker... if i run the 15k i'll only have 25 more miles, thats nothing!!! well not nothing but not bad in 25 days. why do i get the feeling im going to be running 20 miles on new years eve to get to another marker/???? im calling it right now based on my own crazy self !!!!

can i do it??

So I was ready 430's blog and noticed I have no idea how many miles I've run this year....

So I did a little comp spdst, being the nerd that I am...
710.46 miles. This year.

Well I dont think I can get to 89 more miles this month- that would be adding 20 mile runs back in! But I will try for 775 which is 65 more miles which is about 16 miles a week. Quite frankly I'll be happy with 750 miles for the year but thats that.

My highest mileage month was Sept of 2009 with 95.31.
My lowest mileage month was May of 2009 with 40 miles.
On average I've run about 64.5m a month. Which isnt awesome but certain not paltry.

So that's it. Just a few stats for your Friday pm.

km to m and back again

Cheers from London! Another running city! Right? Wrong, dead wrong in fact- at least for me.

I'm staying in central London, SW1 to be more precise- parks galore! You say! Rubbish! Well quite rubbish indeed! It stays dark until 745 am and while I wouldn't call the gloomy dreary rain filled days 'light' there is a contrast until about 4 pm. Then pitch black again. I suppose if I left at 730am and ran until 8 I would only be 30 min late to the office, however given the fact that I'm traveling FOR business I'm not sure how that would go.

The gym at my hotel is in the basement. The treadmill is old and if not old, cheap. Yesterday I ran about 3m (everything is in km so I'm perpetually confused) alternating between 5.2mph (per my nifty math this am) and 6.2mph. Then I did another 10-20 min of weights, squats etc. Today I did 10 min on what I refer to as the horse machine and then 6 rounds of 2min 'sprintsk at 8 min miles (7 mph). There's not a lot of shock absorption thoigh! Then 15 min of abs, back, squats etc. Not terrible.

I just scarfed samosas and naan. The most delicious samosas ever.

Fin.

longest run since the marathon

I ran just under 8 miles on the treadmill on Saturday. It was my longest run since the marathon at a comfy 11:15 pace. I watched Nova basketball the whole time which was great.

I didnt run on Sunday because I wanted to spend time with Matt before my trip and I drank too much wine Saturday at Casa Mono.

Monday I was too jet lagged to do anything.

So that brings us to today. We'll see how this pans out.

born to run?

I suspect many runners and many bloggers who run have read or are meaning to read Born to Run by christopher mcdougall.its awesome. Without giving out the main punchline its a story of runners and ultramarathoners and how the human being is meant to run.

I've only run 2x since last Sunday. With 1x being 5 minutes this am through a wind advisory (I'm headed out in a few for todays run). To be frank I don't know what I used to do before running. Not running makes me anxious and nervous and not me. The me I know runs. And runs often at that. I ran about 4.6m on Thanksgiving, under a 10min pace. How has that pace suddenly become 'pace'? Was it just breaking the barrier that was tough?

I'm headed to London for work this week. Looking fwd to running Hyde Park :)

Hope to sneak a run in tomorrow too. 3x a week seems paltry! Want to be up to pace and speed for the NYC half seeing as the Manhattan one won't work schedule wise for me!

I broke 10 min pace!

38:11 in yesterdays 4m race.
I know breaking the 10:00 pace mark isnt a huge deal to many but to me it really REALLY is. I didn't wear a watch so I'm not 100% sure of the splits but a) they were negative and b) my fastest mile was the hills in the park!

Ran 5 miles Friday night so am feelign strong even with only 12 miles last wk!
